Developed two assessment tools (Fall 2022):
– Student Academic Engagement and Success (SAES) Survey
– Online Weekly Journal (OWJ)
Tested two assessment tools (Spring 2023):
– Student Academic Engagement and Success Survey (1/17-2/10/2023)
– 8 weeks Online Weekly Journal (3/6-5/5/2023 except a spring break)
Collected students’ definitions of academic success through open-ended questions.
Analyzed feedback and used findings to refine tools for Year 2 with multiple response options.
Year 2 (2023-2024): Implementation Phase at University of Illinois Chicago and Northern Illinois University
Deployed the tools to all undergraduate students at UIC and NIU (Spring 2024)
– SAES survey at UIC and NIU (1/16-2/16, 2024)
– 8 weeks OWJ (3/4/-5/3/2024 at UIC, 3/18-5/10/2024 at NIU, except a Spring break)
