
Jung Mi Scoulas (Project Director), Associate Professor and Assessment Coordinator at University of Illinois Chicago Library, holding a PhD in educational psychology with expertise in library assessment, research design, survey design, and student learning.
Dr. Scoulas oversees the research project: developing assessment tools by collaborating with research team, contacting and communicating with content experts to validate the assessment tools, preparing the IRB materials in collaboration with research team and submitting for UIC IRB approval, assisting research team with conducting and recruiting for the Academic Engagement and Student Success Survey and Online Weekly Journals, analyzing data, writing reports and disseminating the findings via various channels (conferences, publications, and webinar etc.), providing training for a graduate student, and monitoring project timeline.
Sandra L. De Groote (Co-Principal Investigator), Professor and Head of the Assessment and Scholarly Communications at UIC Library, she holds a Masters in Library and Information Science and a MEd in Measurement, Evaluations, Statistics, and assessment.
Sandra assists with developing assessment tools, preparing for IRB materials, analyzing data, recruiting a graduate student, drafting and reviewing reports, depositing the digital products in UIC repository and disseminating the findings with the PD via various channels.


Kimberly Shotick (Co-Principal Investigator), Assistant Professor and Student Success Librarian at NIU with expertise in undergraduate student success.
Kimberly assists with developing assessment tools, drafting and reviewing reports. She assisted with preparing materials for NIU’s IRB approval, recruiting Online Weekly Journal participants at NIU, and monitoring data collection. She will also analyze the qualitative data collected from NIU.
Nestor Osorio (Co-Principal Investigator), Professor and Head of the Reference and Research at the Northern Illinois University with experience in higher education assessment, data analysis and visualization, and has co-chaired two assessment plans and status reports for NIU Libraries.
Nestor assists with developing assessment tools, drafting and reviewing reports. He assisted with preparing materials for NIU’s IRB approval. He will also analyze the qualitative data collected from NIU.


Ian Christensen (Graduate Hourly Assistant), MSW Graduate, UIC Jane Addams School of Social Work.
Ian communicates with UIC Online Weekly Journal participants, ensuring that the remain engaged with the study and answer any questions that may arise. Ian also assists in collecting and organizing data and creates website content.
